Sonos Play 5 setup

Hi folks,

ive brought a new place and the previous owner left 2x Sonos play:5 speakers. I’m trying to reset them but there is no ‘play’ button on the top of them or ‘join’ button on the back.
what can I do??

Hold the ‘mute’ button instead when powering back on.

You don't say which generation but here is the support link for gen 1 Play 5s.

If it s a Gen 1 you will need to use the “Sonos S1” app to get them working.

Amazon Basics cables are more than good enough, don't spend $50 on something fancy. This or something similar if the junk drawer doesn't have one.

FYI, as those speakers are Play 5 (Gen1) you will not be able to expand the system with any NEW Sonos hardware.

Only products listed in the last two subheadings in the link will work with the speakers you have. Those products shown are discontinued and can only be found in situations like yours or on a used market site (eg. eBay).
