I have a problem with a single Sonos One (I have 10 sonos speakers in total)

Issue experienced

  • One of a paired of Sonos One speakers suddenly stopped working
  • I factory reset it wirelessly and wired
  • It gets as far as being seen in the App but then fails and says “The connection to your Sonos One was lost. Make sure Sonos One is powered on”
  • The speaker is fully powered on during the whole process
  • A second error says “Your Sonos One couldn't be set up. Unplug the power cord, plug it back in, and try again.”
  • powered off and on - then nothing happens and the speaker is not seen in App
  • I have also reset the Sonos App - still not worked.

Anyone see this before - any ideas

Thanks

I know you said it was wired and wireless when you factory reset it, but is it wired to the router when you are trying to connect it? That could help with this. You can always disconnect the ethernet after it is set up.

Edit: the other one of the pair isn’t still showing as paired is it?

Hi Rhonny,

Thanks - have factory reset and tried to join while it was wired, still not working.

I had already disconnected the pairing before resetting the speaker.

Oddly the App just said “Your Sonos One has been added. You can continue personalizing it in System Settings.” but it is not showing in the app.

Thanks

Don

Sign out of the app. Force close the app. Then re-open the app and sign back in.

Thanks, had tried that as well as reset App - speaker still not in App and still flashing a green light.

All very odd.

Flashing green means it isn’t yet set up so your app saying it had been added isn’t actually true… Although I suspect you had realised that anyway!

Some people have repeated the process many times and eventually a troublesome speaker has been set up. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the failures before the success. So I would suggest you keep trying until your patience runs out or until it connects, whichever is the sooner.

Hi,

yep, I keep trying (14 times so far! 🤣)

Will keep trying as and when, until I get bored

Thanks for the help.

Had the same problem with a Sonos One Gen 1. Eventually got it connected wired to the router, left it there a day just for any network issues to settle then unplugged and it's been OK since (touch wood). I also deleted and reinstalled the Sonos  App at least once.

Hi Iain,

Thanks, this is a Gen1 unit so fingers crossed at some point it will decide to work again and will leave it wired for now.
