Sonos is a huge disappointment

We bought 3 Era 100 for a Pilates studio - at first they seemed to work well, but now, after roughly 4 months,  every teacher has issues connecting, including me. I had to register the sonos speakers AGAIN - but it only temporarly helped and only worked for my device. Something seems to be completely off. Sometimes the music just stops in the middle of a sessions. We connect via Wifi, which is stable and fast. But crazy enough, even bluetooth does not connect!

It is a huge pain. Other people, including clients, tell me they have the same issues with Sonos. Even before I bought them one other studio owner was warning me about them… I wish I would have followed her advice.

I honesty just want to return them.

How much bandwidth is the line? Don't let customers on it. Or give them a throttled guest router. A pro wired setup is better. Interference can play a huge roll. Using a better antenna than your stock cable router is better. Like a mesh unit up high.

no customer can use the wifi.

the internet is 200Mbits/s fiberglass with a brand new router only a couple metres away from the sonos speakers.

i had to reconfigure the sonos speakers, because the sonos app asked me to, not because of me trying over and over again.

Is the new router a recent addition?

Is the router an ISP device? I ask because there are some routers/gateways that cause issues with Sonos:

If your router/gateway is on the list, you may need to purchase a compatible router and bypass the ISPs device by placing it into bridge or passthrough mode.

Good morning everyone - For what it is worth, I ended up gifting my older Sonos products to my daughter for her dance studio in Montreal - I gave her 2 Play One’s, A Play 3 and a Sonos One (the Sonos One proved to be a godsend as it was a doorway in for her customers connecting directly over iPhone (Air)) and then grouping from the device to the others - she has two large rooms - we initially had issues with latency and lag - music cutting in and out ...etc - we quickly realized that we were allowing customers onto the wifi as well with their devices - so, we basically cut out a part of the network - meaning, leveraging the “Guest” feature on the Bell Fibe that was coming into the building - Sonos was on the main SSID of the Bell Fibe Router along with the employees (including herself) - customers would only have  access to Guest.  We also had to deal with the fact that there was a business below her with customers with devices - all of this does lead to interference.  Once we completed the fine tuning, the music has been stable since.  I would say you need to to do some tweaking with your network to get it just right - the community here is very sound and knowledgeable and could help you resolve this.   Also, leveraging Sonos support and submitting diagnostics when the issues arise will definitely help you get this resolved.

Thanks

Derek

Humans are basically bags of water. Water absorbs WiFi energy. As the space fills with water bags wireless performance will degrade — especially if the WiFi access points and wireless speakers are at or below crowd level. If this is an issue, raising the access points and wireless speakers will usually resolve it.

Likely something has changed on your network, router or mesh extender firmware update, that may now be causing problems, which would explain it working at first.

Or less likely some form of RF interference that is now occurring, that was not before, where are the extenders positioned, are they ceiling mounted which you need in this type of environment, and who else is using your network, if it is does not have suitable security, someone may be getting a free wi-fi.
