When I open the app, it only wants to connect wirelessly. How do I bypass that step?

It should ignore that step, if you actually wire it to the router with that ethernet cable. It’s really looking to add your network information, a step that’s unnecessary when wired.
You may want to check, if you’ve already got it connected, that both ends are properly inserted, and the actual ethernet cable isn’t bad.
