I haven't updated the barely functioning Sonos app so I checked for updates and read the reviews first. It sounds like the latest update is worse than the useless outdated version I have. The question is, is the OG useless app better than the updated useless app?

Just a thought - the primary product offered by sonos is THE APP - without it they sell speakers that are comparable to others that don't rely on a disfunctional app. Seems like a little more resources should be dedicated to app development. Just saying....

Hi @RyHateGod666

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

You have not mentioned any software versions or time-scales, so I can’t answer your question. I can only recommend that you always update both your system and the Sonos app to the latest versions.

The latest version of the app is coming later today, with some long-missing functionality being added (playlist creation and editing) - I think, therefore, that any reviews are going to soon be outdated.

I hope this helps.

I recently updated the app, which I’d not done since May last year (I was kind of forced into it as the desktop app on a new computer upgraded the speakers, then the 16.1 app wouldn’t work). Anyway, it wasn’t as bad as I feared - honestly! Most stuff seems to work OK, albeit a bit laggy at times. However, I can connect to my music library on NAS OK (did have to rejig some tagging to sort out album lists), and the recently played doesn’t show the album artwork. If the playlist creation/editing is corrected today that would be a big improvement. Also playing Podcasts subscribed to (I use BBC Sounds) can be rather cumbersome, but fortunately that’s not a big issue for me.

Hope this helps a bit.
