Playbar with not play with the optical input.

After installing the new software upgrade the optical input no longer plays tv audio. I bought a new Tosslink cable -- still no sound.  I can get the Playbar to play music from the Sonos app, but not from the TV as before.  There are on controls for the optical out on the Samsung TV. I’m at wit’s end since the TV sound is so inferior. I spent one hour with tech support with little help.  Is there someone with a similar problem.

Hi @Morrisb et al

Thanks to @Knoxy66 for bringing this back to my attention!

In case anyone has not tried this functionality in a while, all Sonos products should now be able to play from an optical input.

If you are still having this problem, please ensure your Sonos system is up to date: Settings icon » Manage » System Updates » Check for Updates

I hope this helps.

So the Sonos app stopped finding my sonos speakers, and nothing on my network had changed. The playbar still worked with the TV, but I couldn't change the volume with the app.

So I fiddled with the app, it eventually found all the speakers and wanted to do an update, so I did that.

The speakers were all then working great from the app.

Returning to using the TV, I can't get optical out working now. I've checked all settings, multiple times, and I can't get the TV to play through the playbar.

The devices are all up to date, I've double checked this too. Please help.

Hi @RobK

Apologies for the delay - I have been off work.

I’m sorry to hear that you are still encountering this issue - I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.

I hope this helps.

Finally got around to calling Sonos support. Looking at the diagnostics, it seemed the speaker was ok, there was no output from the TV, which pointed to a cable or TV problem… (which is odd as it worked ok before the speaker was updated) but the Support guy also suggested switching “TV Autoplay” on, which is a setting I’d never seen before, and this fixed it. Very happy now, everything is working great. Thanks Sonos.
