play 5 gen 1 tried everything

I got a new router. I’ve managed to set up my newer products (beam, sub etc) using the Sonos app and WiFi. However I just can’t get the play 5 gen 1 to connect.
I’ve followed everything on the S1 app.
Connecting over WiFi it stalls after “join Sonos network”.
connecting with Ethernet cable it stalls on “hear the chime”. The play 5 chimes but the app doesn’t recognise it.
it was working fine on my previous virgin wifi, but just can’t get it going on new Vodafone power hub. The hub output seems to be 2.4hz.
please can anyone help?

If all else fails, you can always call Sonos Support to discuss it.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Thanks, will further investigate. Not sure I fully understand them though! But I will try.

So I got sorted with Sonos support.

1 tried WiFi set up - didn’t work

2 plugged in Ethernet cable, failed at “chime”

3 tried again- failed at chime

4 kept app open, reset router with Ethernet cable still plugged in (previously I had started from step 1 following router reset)

5 tried wired set up again, got to chime and it worked!

6 just going to stick with the wired set up.
7 no need to change any of the router security settings

The changeover could have been a lot smoother if you had used the same SSID and password from the old router. Most devices would have reconnected automatically, while some may have just needed a reboot. But the Ethernet connection is the best route.
