play 3 w/bridge reset and connect to my S1app

I changed Wi-Fi networks and managed to connect my play three with a bridge, to my S1 app. Now it won’t connect for some reason and I think I need to reset the play three with or without the bridge I don’t know. So I can re-connect the play three to the S1 app. I have an S2 app for my Romi in another part of the house, when I try to open the S1 app it tells me to use the S2 app. that would change the two profiles I have for the separate speakers.

Leave the BRIDGE out of the equation completely, there are enough reported issues with them. Instead, hang your PLAY:3 off of your WiFi network, or wire it directly to your router.

I happen to run S2 on both of my (not stereo paired) PLAY:3s. The BRIDGE won’t run S2 (yet another reason to retire it), but the PLAY:3s will, if you choose. That way, you’ll only be running one controller.

In the past, when dealing with two systems (S1 and S2), I found it easier for me to unplug all devices of the ‘other’ OS, just so I wouldn’t get any error or ‘upgrade’ messages that I didn’t want.

It sounds like the app is trying to unify everything under S2, which is causing confusion with your separate setups. Before resetting, try removing the Play:3 from the S1 app (if possible) and re-adding it after a reboot. A full reset should be the last option since it may affect your existing configuration.

Is there a reason you want to use the Play 3 with the S1 app? The Play 3 is compatible with the S2 app, so why not update it to S2?

this would make your life a whole lot easier with just one app IMO.

I could be wrong with these steps, but

  1. Remove the Bridge: it is NOT needed any longer
  2. Force close the S1 app and reset the Play 3
  3. once it comes back up with a green light, open the S2 app and go into settings an select Add Speaker or Component.

You should see the Play 3 appear as available. Simply select it and allow it to go through the updates.
