Play 3 sound distortion/ terrible sound after update.

Good Evening,

I hope someone can advise. I have 2 x play 3 speakers and 2 x play 1 speakers. All were working perfectly . There was a recent software update and the play 1’s are fine. Since the update both my play 3 speakers are popping and crackling randomly at any volume and are very distorted. I have tried them separately and as a stereo pair. I have turned the bass and treble down and turned the loudness off. I have done a factory reset twice but to no avail. I have raised a case with Sonos diagnostics and they have said that it is a hardware fault if I have done a factory reset and it has not rectified the problem. I said that it is very strange that both speakers have failed at the very same moment in time with a hardware failure and he agreed but said that is what it is and offered the 15% upgrade. Any advice suggestions would be much appreciated. I love the speakers and don’t want to throw them away and buy new. Thanks

Worse if it’s a hardware issue, which is more difficult to ‘fix’ than software. I’ve noticed no changes at all in either of my PLAY:3s, which are running S2.

I also have 2 play 3s exhibiting this crackling noise with Spotify, has anyone resolved this issue? How do we get @SONOS to rectify this?

Wait for the problem.

Submit a diagnostic. Sooner is better, over around 10 minutes is usually too late.

Making a video to capture the audio issue wouldn't hurt but isn't a requirement.

Call Sonos and discuss the issue. Do not post the number here.

If you don't call the diagnostic will likely never be seen by a human and won'tmove getting a fix any priority.
