Hi - I’ve just got a new router. And I’ve been trying to connect my 2 play 1s to the new WiFi.  I’ve done a factory reset and connected a speaker via Ethernet. I’ve done the set up on the Sonos app and I can then play music via Spotify. When I try and set up the WiFi the app doesn’t find any device, so I can’t select my new WiFi and add password etc? It seems this process is exclusively Bluetooth, if my Bluetooth is off on the phone it forces me to turn it back on? Has anyone found a way to add new WiFi if they hit this hurdle? Ta

Maybe this Sonos support link will assist you…

The Bluetooth option that you mention is apparently for newer devices that have .BLE built-in. The Play:1’s precede that WiFi network setup feature.

Hope the link assists.

Hi Ken_Griffiths

Yes they’re too old for Bluetooth

thanks for speedy reply

ive done the factory reset process as per the link, connecting the speakers via Ethernet, I can create a new system and get a speaker to play music. (Via cable) But the app doesn’t find the speaker when I try and update it’s network settings?

even as music is playing

any other ideas? Or do I need to run them on cable now…

I didn’t understand the part where you chose to cable the speaker(s), after you factory reset them? Will they not simply setup on your WiFi post-factory reset?

Note if you do reset them again to run on WiFi, you’ll likely also have to reset the Sonos App too… If that doesn’t matter to you (as you’ve already reset them recently), then my thoughts are to perhaps try that and not wire them to the router.

@freelance_visitor,

This is the section from that Sonos link I was thinking you need to do. There’s no mention of wiring anything to the network post factory reset…

"Reset your Sonos products and set them up again

If your Sonos system only contains products from the list above and you can’t wire a product to your router, you’ll need to reset each product and set them up again as a new system. During the setup process, you’ll provide each of your Sonos products with your updated WiFi network name and password.

If you would like assistance with this process, please contact Sonos Support

Hope that assists.

Is your new router set to provide a signal the old Play 1s can see?

There is a support topic on that if you search on wifi.

I just assumed I needed the Ethernet. That’s how I first set them up… but I’ve achieved. I pulled out the Ethernet and pressed the button on the router that opened the Ethernet and the app found them? Not sure if that’s a coincidence? - nearly there I’ve done one but the other hasn’t rest properly…

thanks.
