play:1 downgrade

I have a play one that has been working on the Sonos S1 controller app.  I recently took it on vacation and it looks like it somehow was updated so that now it will only play on the new Sonos App.

Based upon the Help articles, it says that I can downgrade it back to the Sonos S1 controller app but I can’t seem to figure how to do that.

Note: upgrading from S1 to S2 requires human intervention, which you may not want. Systems are incapable of updating themselves, to my knowledge.

There have been a few threads where it was found out that someone was confused, or trying to be ‘helpful”.

That’s true. However given that the OP took the Play 1 on vacation they (or someone else) downloaded the S2 app inadvertently. The app prompted the OP (or that someone else) to update the Play 1 not realizing it wasn’t a normal update and proceeded to upgrade the speaker to S2.

Like you I wonder why the OP stated that “some how” the play 1 upgraded to S2 😂
