I have 2 Sonos Play1 Tone devices that I moved today. The paint surface was sticky which I thought strange and tried to clean …. The paint has seriously degraded on both devices to the point where touching them results in a sticky deposit on ones fingers. Is this a known issue or specific to the models I have? Thanks

First I’ve heard of the issue, since joining this forum a long time ago. I have at least 6 PLAY:1s, too, and haven’t had this occur. I’d call SonosSupport directly to discuss it.
Hi
Yes I have 6 Sonos Devices (2 Play 1s, 2 Sonos Ones, a Beam and Soundbar) … so fairly committed customer!
The Play 1’s are their limited edition ‘Tone’ models….maybe that is the difference with yours! The Tone was special paint as I recall.
I spent an hour and ½ on the CHAT system and eventually they just cut me off…..too difficult a question. Now writing to the CEO….
Sadly, the units still sound great but this is now a trading standards matter as its a design and manufacturing fault not product performance issue. Also the sticky substance on ones hands once handling them is horrible!

I have a friend who has several of the ‘Tone’ models, I think. They are Blue, rather than black like mine are. I’ll check with him to see if he’s experiencing the same issues.
