How to perform factory reboot. Something other than unplug and plug back in? Performed this function so many times I could not possible count.

We do not recommend you reset your Sonos products unless specifically instructed to do so by our technical support team, or if you are selling the unit.
Have you tried connecting the speaker to the router with an ethernet cable, and then performing Wireless Setup (Settings » System » Network » Manage Networks » Update Networks)? It may go better than doing it wirelessly.
Failing that, I recommend you get in touch with our technical support team, who have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your Sonos system and what it reports.
