Absolutely sick to death of my Sonos 1 speaker.
It’s a pig to use.
I got it as a free gift too and it WAS ONCE amazing, but since they RUINED the app it’s impossible to use.
It now resides in the kitchen bin until Wednesday when it will be collected with all other recycling: empty tin cans, glass bottles, cardboard etc.
Good riddance Sonos!!!!

People would still pay you a decent amount for that on eBay. 100% profit for you if it was a freebie to start with… But not now it’s covered in potato peelings.
PS your first post on here might have instead benefitted from being “I’m having issues with my Sonos One. Any ideas?”

I wouldn’t have the heart to inflict such frustration on any other.
I had a fleeting thought that I might still yet retrieve it from the bin and put a sledgehammer through it, but such an action might cause me physical injury, as well.
Best to leave it in the bin. It’s just as silent there as it ever has been since the SONOS engineers reworked the software.

I just wish you would have posted it for sale as apposed to tossing it in the bin. I would love to add a One to my system! Im always looking for a good deal on Sonos stuff…
That being said, there has been so much done, in recent times, to make the app stable again for many who have had issues since last year. There are many members here who have great insight to help users enjoy their speakers again.

Just short of £600 for that lot, which eased the pain of spending around £2K on Bluesound equivalents. They sound just as good (better in the case of their NODE after DIRAC Live room tuning) and the app works beautifully, unlike the travesty that Sonos visited upon long term, loyal customers on May 7th 2024.

After upgrading to Era’s, I recently sold several Play:1’s on eBay, upgraded to latest S2 system software, and reset. I was hesitant at first as not a regular eBay user, and concerned the buyers may come back if unable to add to their S2 systems.
I wouldn’t have the heart to inflict such frustration on any other.
No issues, positive feedback. ‘Real world’ experience tells me there are lots working Sonos systems, and buyers willing to purchase working Sonos devices that are not longer used. If you are not sure its working, you can still sell, just advertise as not working. Many buyers will take a punt, as it may actually work on their own environment.

About £200 each, and in 3 day auctions they garnered a lot of interest too. Have to say, eBay is not what it was - far less actual auctions and when you sell stuff, they keep the money for several days in “your account”. In fact of course this is sharp practice on their part and they are making millions off all that capital, however temporarily it is theirs and most definitely, not yours...

Thank you. I see them listed for more than that in my location (marketplace, not eBay) but was curious about the amount of an actual sale.
I can say that if I only had a play1 I probably wouldn’t go through the hassle of selling either. But recycling or giving it away would be better than binning it.
