I have two Sonos  play1 and two Sonos play three speakers. Purchased years ago and I loved them.  frequently recommended then to friends and business clients. Then Sonos did away with the bridge. I have hardly ever used them since.
every year or so I spend a day trying to get them to work via WiFi.
get frustrated at the drop out and connectivity issues. Then never use them again for another twelve months until I get some time to waste.
I have fibre

is there an alternative to the bridge. I do I just swap over to Bose?

any ideas would be appreciated.

Wire one of your speakers, if you can't, then get another similar speaker and put it where it can be wired.

While a Boost would work, the replacement for the Bridge, it isn't being sold any longer.

If you tell us more a out your setup we might be able to help, you could also, all Sonos Support.

Thanks Stanley_4,

I can put one of the speakers on an Ethernet cable to the router. But I also think the issue is with the app. I can get one or two songs off a play list then I get hit with “ song not encrypted” and drop out.

At present I have all four speakers dotted around the house just working off wifi to the router. They all have had a software update. They are at least 15 years old (gen one). Used to have them on constantly as most of my CDs were put on a hard drive and played from a computer via the home network. can’t even access that anymore.

Are you using the S1 version of the app?

What music service? I don't recall seeing "song not encrypted" as an error message.

i think you get the error like  “song not encoded correctly”, when sonos times out with handshaking, its a house  wifi problem, try an ethernet cable or even moving speakers about nearer to router….
