I own the Sonos Era 100 and have also bought a USB C jack plug “ not from Sonos” and I don't get any sound or Line In is displayed in the app. Does the Sonos Era 100 only work with the original USB adapter? wanted to connect my karaoke bar to the Sonos Era 100

Yes. It seems only the original Sonos adapter works with the Era speakers.
You may also wish to rethink using sonos along with a karaoke system. There is a 75ms delay between the time a signal goes in and the audio comes out.
Sonos is not designed for that type of application or recommended for DJ use.

Most usb converters convert the wrong way.
Only ones (that go the right way) and are supported by the Sonos driver might work.
Buy the Sonos one and avoid all the aggravation. Also nonSonos might quit at any update.
