Sometimes when turning the LG OLED TV I need to go to the TV setting and select a different sound setting, then return and select Optical Cable in order for Playbar1 to work.
This happens even though the settings of the TV initially when powered on are recognizing the Optical Cable setting.
why does this sometimes happen?

The first step for odd problems is to i sure the TV is on the latest firmware.
If you are using the remote to turn off the display you might try unplugging the TV for a couple minutes and see if it picks up the right output.
Do you have anything connected to the TV ARC / eARC port?
Do you have TV Autoplay enabled in the Sonos app? If so, it’s far more likely to be a tv issue than Sonos.
