Question

issues with router tethering with Sonos app and speakers

I’ve been facing issues contacting my Sonos devices and getting them stay on my Wi-Fi network, tried factory reset, app refresh , changing ownership too ( to a separate account) . The app connects and drops as it pleases. The issue may be with my router config. I travel frequently and carry my speakers , so the networks change . Presently in Japan, using a tp link 841 router , all my other devices work just fine it’s just Sonos that’s such a pain🤬

Your best bet would be to get a travel router so that you can have the same WIFI credentials wherever you go. Since there are many factors the can cause Sonos not to work properly on particular networks, having consistency with your WiFi is recommended.

Another solution would be to get a Move 2 or an Era 100/300 and use bluetooth. You do not need WIFI after the initial setup of Bluetooth enabled speakers.

Sonos is NOT like other WiFi enabled devices.

Factory resets rarely solve anything and aside from the few specific situations Sonos recommends it for it should be avoided. Same for the changing ownership, it isn't going to solve most issues.

Everything you mention seems router configuration or Wi-Fi signal related and likely solved with the travel router option suggested above.

Thank you for your responses, will start with with seettng up my router, and then let's see how it works. All things considered this seems to be the most plausible solution. Thanks again 🙏

Do you carry the TP Link 841 with you and connect it to other WiFi or is that just the router that’s there in your current location?

Hi Ian, no I do not carry my router, this is the one I received from my ISP. Normally I simply update the network on my Sonos app and devices and they work fairly well. I also noticed the router model simply has one 2.4g SSID , instead of a dual band

In the IPTV section, what are the IGMP settings?
