Is it possible to connect a zoneplayer S5 to S2?

I can't seem to get the S5 to be recognized by my Sonos system.

My setup: Playbar, Sub, One, One SL.  Controller OS: S2.

I would like to add my zoneplayer S5 to this system.  Is it possible?  It used to work when I was using OS: S1.  I can no longer install the OS: S1 controller while OS: S2 is installed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No, the S5/Play:5 Gen 1 is S1 only.

No, the original S5, also known as the PLAY:5 Gen 1, does not have the CPU or extra RAM to run S2. You may want to refer to https://support.sonos.com/en-us/article/sonos-app-version-compatibility

Edit: @jgatie types faster ;)

Thanks for your replies. I figured as much.  So, is it possible to install the S1 controller and the S2 on the same device (computer, phone)?  Whenever I’ve tried is says the the S2 is available and installs that one.

Yes, it should be no issue running both. Just start up the controller for the device you wish to control.

No. The ZonePlayer S5 is S1-only and cannot be added to an S2 system.

You can either:

  • Keep the S5 on a separate S1 system, or

  • Downgrade all speakers to S1 to use it together.

There is no way to use the S5 directly with S2.

Although a One can be S1, the One SL cannot so I don’t think this will help in this instance.
