I recently bought my first Sonos device, the Era 100, but I haven’t been able to use it yet. It’s impossible to connect it using the Sonos app on Android or iOS. Everything seems fine at first, but then it doesn’t work. Most of the time, I can’t add the device to my system. On a few occasions, I managed to add the device to my living room, but the process failed with an error code 801.
I’m feeling really frustrated—please help me!

From the Sonos support site error 801 means that the speakers needs an update but it is failing to complete it. This could be due to network issues. Have you tried rebooting your router/network?
If you are trying to add the 100 as a surround speaker, it will not work if you already have a set of surrounds paired. It will also not work if you only have a single speaker. Try adding it as a seperate room instead.

I saw that and have already tried restarting the Wi-Fi, rebooting the Era 100, and uninstalling/reinstalling the Sonos app... Basically, I’ve restarted everything I can think of, haha. But nothing seems to work. 
Just to clarify, I only have one Sonos Era 100.
What router do you own? Who is your ISP?
Do you have a computer? If you do, download the compatible app from here and try to set up the speaker again. There may be an update that is needed, but the mobile devices are unable to complete the process.

I do have a computer, but I use Linux, and unfortunately, there isn’t a compatible app for it. Honestly, this has been the worst technology experience I’ve ever had. It’s really frustrating and feels ridiculous at this point...
Sonos has been mostly trouble free for me. I now have 10 speakers in my home, and I enjoy the whole home functionality of the brand.
Many users have had some issues with the new app, but that has mostly been solved with recent updates.
Do you have any extenders or powerline adapters within your network?
Does your router have WPA3 security? If so can you change it to WPA2? Sonos is not compatible with WPA3.
Do you have a VPN running?

I have WPA2-PSK security on my Wi-Fi, and there are no extenders on my network. I’ll try to get access to a Windows or Mac computer to install the app you mentioned and give it a try.
