I have Arc + sub conntected to the TV e-arc. (for both streaming music and tv)

I have a One SL in the kitchen.

I have the devices grouped.

Right now i have TV auto play on and Ungroup on Autoplay turned on.

I’d like for music (streaming sonos or spotify) to play on both devices, but when i switch to watch something on the TV only, I just want the TV to play through the Arc only and stop all kitchen audio.

If i have music playing through the group, then when i want to turn on the TV - the arc will play the TV audio, but the kitchen SL will continue to playing the music.

If i turn ungroup off, the TV will play both in kitchen will play the TV audio, which is not desired.

How do i get the kitchen SL to stop when the TV comes on?

I understand its probably working the way its intended, but is there anyway i can set this up to do so automatically for music, tv, through zones, or rooms, vs groups, etc without having to pull out the app?

Voice command via the Arc: “Hey Sonos, stop music in Kitchen”. Not a perfect solution, but very easy to implement and without using the phone app.

I was going to suggest same, you could also turn TV on/off via voice control, without having ‘to pull out’ the TV remote:

Thanks for the tip. I tried that, and it ungroups the kitchen from Arc entirely and I’d have to go back and regroup them to play music each time. Is there a way through Alexa groups? Seems like there’s gotta be a way.

You can group/ungroup with Sonos Voice Control.

Understood. Just trying to have it be automated within the app setting, without having to change anything manually by voice or phone each time.

I think the sort of automation you’re looking for is a bit beyond what Sonos provides through normal configuration settings.  Sonos does have a public API, and there are smart home tools out there that would allow you to do this sort of thing.

That said, I’m looking Home Assistant, and while it does have the ability to stop and start audio on a Sonos speaker, I don’t see a way to group/ungroup speakers.  It may be a bit of a challenge to find the right system.
