Groups not working over airplay

I am repeating a topic as posted below and in many other threads. It seems that Sonos have not fixed it. All software updates have been done on my side and yet it still does not work. Is there any danger that Sonos might actually care about their customers?

I found this “closed” topic about Sonos group doesn't work for Airplay.

Sonos acknowledged that it is a reproducible problem. Yet eight months later, I am still experiencing the exact same problem. I hope that Sonos understands that closing the topic doesn't mean the problem is solved. You actually need to fix your bug.

Sonos uses an automated system that looks at length of time since the last activity in a thread to ‘close’ threads. The only threads they manually ‘close’, there is always a post from a moderator explaining why the thread has been closed.

If you’re still experiencing this issue, Iwould recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t take the assumption that your particular issue is the same as others. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, Sonos’ lawyers get sensitive about GDPR, I suspect.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Hi @sortitout

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Sorry to hear about the issue you are having with playing and grouping AirPlay streams to your Sonos system.

The issue that you refer to being identified was in fact closed as being the expected behaviour, so there was nothing to fix. We erroneously identified it as unintended behaviour - my apologies for this.

When you select a Sonos speaker in the AirPlay picker, it will be removed from any Sonos group that it is in - this is intended.

When playing AirPlay to multiple speakers, please target all AirPlay-capable Sonos players in the AirPlay picker. Any non-AirPlay-compatible speakers that you want playing the same stream should be grouped-in using the Sonos app or Sonos Voice Control after the AirPlay stream has started playing.

Again, my apologies for any confusion.

I hope this helps.
