I Know this has been asked in different contexts but I kind of need a more specific answer.
I currently have the ARC, Sub (Gen 3 ) and 2 Play1s. in my great room Ceiling height is not an issue about 30ft High. I am looking to upgrade to Era 300s for my rears but I have no way of mounting them behind the couch much less at head height. I also can't put them on stands learned that the hard way with my Play 1s due to my toddler son. Ideally I would like to mount them slightly behind my couch on both side walls angled downward to the couch. My 2 questions are How High can I actually mount these on the side walls Id like to go about 6-8 Feet up. and secondly will mounts give me enough angle for the speaker to be somewhat facing the TV? I know it's not 100% Ideal but its a large room with high ceilings and would like more room filling sound for music and TV.
thank you all in advance

Would like to help. Side wall mounting is not ideal as you say. However, we need to know how far the side walls are from your seated position. A floor diagram (picture facing the seating position is best) would be most helpful.
As far as swivel there are no degrees given on Sonos web site. However according to this re-seller they move 15 degrees up/down and left/right. You might call Sonos sales for a definitive answer.
Thank you for the reply @AjTrek1 Im going to snap a few pictures and grab the measurements. and post back here this evening. I have not reached out to Sonos on their mounts which actually drew me to the Sanus ones as I have used their floor mounts and soundbar mounts in the past and they seem to make a solid product. Stand by I'll get some more details tonight.
thank you again.
@AjTrek1, I have attached the pictures and took the measurements.
each side of the couch is about 2.5 Feet from the walls and walls to center of the couch are about 7.5 feet. Couch is about 11 feet from TV angled down where the ARC is. I could move the couch up about 1 foot or so. also plan is to eventually replace the sectional with a sofa in the middle so the middle of that will still be the same distance. Ceiling height is about 30 Feet. Thank you again for your help.
Hi
Let me compliment you on the room design. It’s beautiful! Here’s my suggestion for mounting the Era 300’s.
The Era 300’s would be mounted on Sonos wall mounts 6-6.5Ft above floor level no more than 1 foot behind either rear edge of the sectional. I’d suggest a slight downward angle with a slight swivel toward the front. You can experiment with angles. Of course as per Sonos guideslines finding a stud for a secure mount is recommended.
Also note that (IMHO) wall mounting is semi-permanent in that moving them requires patching the wall to cover the previous location holes. So you need to be sure you want to move forward.
Also, to blend in with your decor you might consider concealing the power cords with something like this. You can stick with OEM white or paint to match walls for more invisibility.
I believe you’ll hear a marked improvement for Dolby Atmos listening as at present due to the high ceiling the Arc isn’t able to perform at optimum for surround effects. The Arc along performs best when a “bubble” can be created with side walls and a ceiling no more than 9 feet above. Adding the Era 300’s will allow the Arc to extend the surround effects more efficiently to the rear to immerse the listener.
I hope this helps. Maybe another member will see your thread and submit their opinion.
Cheers!
THANKS @AjTrek1 at 6.5 feet I am assuming there would be no need to mout the 300s upside down ?
@andrewdinkelmeyer
Inverted mounting is only recommended when the speaker is mounted within two feet of the ceiling. I don’t think you have to concern yourself with that
Edit:
6.5 feet is just the maximum. I wouldn’t mount beyond the length of the power cable. If necessary to use an extension cable for clearance when walking by a speaker I’d limit the height to 6.5 and no more than 7 in a pinch. Better yet…just duck!
ok perfect Thank you very much for your help. I did a lot of reading on this and so many posts were adamant about the speakers facing the tv parallel to each other and not angled facing the “Target” Seating area. I figured I better reach out.
@andrewdinkelmeyer
see my edit to my last post.
Thank you @AjTrek1 MUCH APPRECIATED. 6-6.5 feet is where they are going no worries about the cable as I was waiting on getting the green light from the community to buy them before I have the electricians come and put a dedicated outlet next to where I am going to mount the speakers. I am hoping that the speaker will hide the outlet when all is said and done.
Hi @andrewdinkelmeyer
The speaker may not hide the outlet completely due to the mounting position and freedom of movement needed for the Era 300 on the swivel. Please don’t entertain cutting the cable to make it shorter as that will void the warranty. Here’s a short cable you might consider. Click here.
