Dual Sub4s with Era300 (no soundbar)

So, as I’m waiting for the Arc Ultra to arrive, I stereo paired the Era300s and then added one Sub4.
I then saw I was able to add the second Sub4 to the stereo pair.

From what I read this shouldn’t be possible unless I had an Arc.
And yet here I am, with a stereo pair of Era300s and two subs.
A bug of the app? A new feature not documented?

Hi @philosopher

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Thanks for reporting this - it is somewhat curious. Could you please submit a diagnostic report and let me know here when you have done so (without posting the number, please)? Thanks!

Aside from the Dual Sub “happening” (I can’t really call it an issue, can I?), please be aware, @philosopher, that your Move 2 speaker needs an update - you may experience issues with the mismatch in versions between your speakers. Especially when trying to group the rooms together for multi-room playback.

I hope this helps.

If it's not an issue then it's a feature right??

Depends on if someone gets taken to the woodshed for a whipping or not.

Oopsie by someone too high in the food-chain it is a feature, not that high and it is a problem.

Dual subs (2xsub4 or sub3+sub4) has been confirmed to work with era300, era100, fives
I think it’s time for an announcement

Whoa there Cowboy 😂

My system consists of dedicated stereo pairs of Era 300’s, Era 100’s and Five’s; all with subs. I have also deleted and reinstalled the App for good measure. My system specs are:

  • Hardware Version: 17.7 (Build 92.0-72090)
  • Controller: 80.35.8

Considering the above I still do not have the option to add a second sub. The only reason I can think of as to why the option is not available is that my system realizes that none of my stereo pairs mentioned have a Sub 4. Therefore, the option to add a second sub is not offered. That means there’s some serious AI integration (smarts) happening beyond the sophistication I believed Sonos to have.

All said this is a can of worms that Sonos is going to have to sort through very carefully before making any type of announcement. I just hope they figure it out sooner than later. 🤞
