I’m a freshman who just moved into my college dorm and am struggling mightily to get my two One SLs setup. The dorm has two WiFi networks: a secure one that phones, laptops, and computers can connect to, and a bring your own device network meant for use with all other devices (but doesn’t allow phones to access). After being unable to set up my system using either WiFi network, I tried with Ethernet cables (which I tested and confirmed did work with other devices) again without any luck. Curious if anyone has any tips or troubleshooting advice.
For security reasons university networks offer very limited connections between rooms and devices. I doubt that your phone/Pad will be able to communicate with your SONOS system. You should install a travel router. You can also connect your computer, printer, and other networked devices to the travel router.
The college network might be blocking or incompatible with such devices - are any ‘other’ students using Sonos? You might need to check with the local IT administrator and if no joy, perhaps use a MiFi, or travel router, device.
I use one of these when travelling, but there are cheaper options …

Check with other students and then see what the local view is on using the local network for such devices.
