Does it work to Pair Sonos Era 100 with Sonos Beam?

Hi,

I have a Sonos Beam soundbar right now and want to buy Sonos speakers for the rest of my apartment. I plan to therefore buy two Sonos Era 100 speakers. But will I be able to sync the sound with these speakers with the Sonos beam?

You have two options for them:

  1. You can add them as surrounds in the same room
  2. You can place them in separate rooms and use the grouping feature to play the same audio as the Beam.

Just note that there will be a 75ms delay between the Beam and other speakers when grouped as different rooms when watching TV.

Sonos uses "Pair" specifically to mean connecting two identical speakers into a left/right stereo pair.

As suggested above, for music there are no issues, each Era as a Sonos Room, both Paired into a single stereo Sonos Room and Grouped, or both Bonded to the Beam as surrounds, in either Full or Ambient mode.

The delay only appears when Grouping the Beam in TV mode to a second Sonos Room and is rarely an issue if the rooms you have your Sonos in are even slightly isolated.

Just for reference, here is a link to the Sonos terminology thread. Most people use and understand these terms, when you post questions.

It would be nice if that info or a link to it showed up in the support pages.

The forum search does find it which is great.

Given that the link provided for Sonos Terminology is a bit of a challenge to find IMO you really can’t blame OP’s for getting the terms Pairing and Bonding transposed. Take a look below at the Sonos marketing snips for the Era 100 in FAQ’s. 😂

Marketing? Would that be the folks with odd colored tounges from licking their water color paints?

They have a long tradition of poor decisions and sowing confusion.
