Can I connect a hi-fi separate CD player to my era 100 via a phono cable and Sonos adapter. I currently connect a turntable this way and I’d like to use a switchable box to connect a CD player and possibly a minidisc player from my old separates system. I’m wondering if they will need a preamp? My turntable has one built in. Any thoughts?

As long as you’re not using the 100s as surround speakers, your proposal would work. If you already have a pre-amp on the turntable, you wouldn’t need a second one.

Oh, I may have misunderstood your post. Only the turntable needs a pre-amp, all other devices would already be at line level.

Great advice Bruce, thank you. I’ll bring my CD player down from the loft and give it a try. Hopefully the levels will be good. I’ll then buy a switchable phone box so I can flick between the two.
