Hi! Is it possible to use one Era 100 or 300 speaker as a single TV speaker in this way?
Or is one of the sound bars the ONLY simple option?

No. The line in for the Era speakers is analog, not the digital input of ARC. There are three devices from Sonos that can accept an ARC signal via HDMI, the Sonos Amp, the Sonos Beam, and the Sonos Arc.
