Can't pair two Play 1's Stereo Pair

I can't get two Play 1' to pair as a stereo pair. Both are in the same room as the router as we live in a small flat.

What can I do?

Perhaps try powering off both speakers for 30+ seconds, or so, and power them back on and let them connect and settle, then try pairing them again.
