can't control volume in Sonos app. era 100

Hi! The volume slider worked for the first hour I used the product. Now, it's just an empty slider with no handle. I can't adjust the volume remotely, only on the device.

Inconvenient:) I found an only topic, about a year ago, where a friendly person collected diacnostic data but the topic was closed before a solution was shared to the dozens of people that reported the same issue.

It sounds like I have the same problem and hope to hear what I can do. Thanks!

First either reboot your controller or do a forced stop of the Sonos app and then restart it.

If that fails, power down ALL Sonos, reboot the router and controller then power the Sonos back up.

If that fails submit a diagnostic and call support. Posting any answer here would be a help to others.

Since we don’t know which app, which device it is on, or what OS is on, I’ve only got generic suggestions.

First, use the OS to ‘kill’ the app, and then try opening it again. Some seem to report that it shows up then.

Second, check to ensure you’re running the latest, both on your speakers as well as the controller. Apply all of the ones you find.

If neither of those resolve it, thirdly, I would recommend that you submit a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. Don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, Sonos’ lawyers get sensitive about GDPR, I suspect.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

First, use the OS to ‘kill’ the app, and then [...]

"Sonos" app from Playstore
Android-16 (Samsung A53 5G)
Version 80.35.4 release 20251204.7b798cc
Note that I had the same issue on a much older phone (running Android 10)

Not sure how to check which version the device is on, but on the day the issue occurred, I already received an update for the device that I applied through the Sonos app. So I assume it was up-to-date.

I tried killing the app but that didn’t help.

Eventually I decided to unplug the device and after plugging it back in, the volume control was restored!

Thanks for the suggestions. I hope it won’t be a recurring issue. So far it hasn’t reappeared.
