Question

Can I put my Sonos system on a separate router in my house

Just joined, newbie here. I installed 10 Sonos Player:5 components, mostly speakers, on a brand new Linksys wifi router which includes all the rest of the other stuff in my home, total around 24 at this point; iphones, ipads, TV’s, Ring cameras, etc. I got the new wifi router because it handles about thirty channels. I though that the issue i was having of everything slowing to a crawl - music stopping midstream- was because of the Sonos components because when I unhooked the system the speed returned. So my question is, can I put all my Sonos system stuff on a separate wifi/cable connected router and run it that sandbox. Has anyone tried this?
Thank you.

That few Sonos, or even the other stuff should not be an issue if it is set up properly, particularly the Sonos.

How are your Sonos connected to your Internet, Wi-Fi, Sonosnet, wired to Ethernet or mixed?

Which Play 5s do you have, gen 1 (with a base) or gen 2 (no base, flat bottom) and S1 or S2 software/firmware?

Best is all Wi-Fi, no wired ones (which means no Sonosnet) active.

Oh, yes you can do a second network BUT your Ssonos and controllers all have to be on it. Likely not what you want.

Can you be a bit more specific regarding your Sonos as I’m not understanding what are “10 Sonos Player:5 components, mostly speakers” 🤔. Quite honestly your current description is meaningless; at least to me. Maybe @Stanley_4 has super powers of deduction that I don’t 😂

I tried something similar when my music kept stopping midstream, and putting the speakers and the phone I control them from on the same separate network made the dropouts much less frequent for me. The part I had to watch was keeping the controller on that same network, since switching back to the main house network made the speakers disappear from the app. I would test it with just a couple of speakers first before moving all ten over, so you can see whether the speed really improves.
