Question

Bluetooth Compatibility on Era 100

I am baffled that Sonos claims they include Bluetooth in the ERA 100, I have yet to get it to work with either a FiiO BAT 30 or a Sennheiser BT100.  Sonos tech support on this issue is all over the place with no real answer. Just feel like selling everything and going with Denon or someone else

I’ve used BT only a couple of times to my Era 100s, without issue. What issue are you experiencing?

Pairing goes ok between the ERA 100 and the FiiO shows up as connected in the app and all other settings are correct.  Set up is a turntable, preamp connected to the FiiO Bat30…… no audio

I’ve tried multiple resets and pairings to no avail

So, it sounds like two points of potential failure.

The one I’d hone in on is whether or not this turntable has a pre-amp associated with it, to both boost the signal to line level and apply the RIAA settings?

Have you tried tried pairing just a phone or tablet with your Sonos, to see if they work?

Ummm, you did say ‘pre-amp’, and I skipped over it, sorry. How certain are you that it is working?

It was not clear to me how to connect an analog stereo source to the FiiO BAT 30. The Sennheiser BT100 seemed straight forward. The turntable should include a preamp output or you’ll need to add an external phono preamp.

BT100 instructions.

ERA 100 instructions.

I use a pair of Era 100s connected my Samsung TV via Bluetooth, in a sitting area. I have not experience any issues with the connection. In fact, when I power on the TV I get a prompt from the TV to connect to the speakers. I don't want them to automatically connect, because sometimes I just want to use the TV speakers at a lower level.

I have doubts that this is a Sonos issue, and I lean more towards a FiiO Bat30 issue instead.

Try contacting FiiO support to investigate this further.

Hello to all

yes turntable has a built in preamp and it is switched to line out.  My apple phone does connect via Bluetooth and plays audio.  To verify that I was really transmitting I turned off Bluetooth and the music stopped and the ERA 100 disconnected.  I just need to dig in deeper and see if I can’t get it working with the FiiO ( hopefully it hasn’t gone bad)

Well, then, if the phone connects, and plays audio, then the issue isn’t the Sonos. You’ll definitely need to look ‘upstream’ for issues. Based on what you’ve told us in your posts, I’d be looking strongly at the pre-amp, and the connections to and from it. I’d also want to be careful about what versions / codecs are in use. I think Sonos uses Bluetooth 5.3, but I’m less sure about which codecs/profiles it supports, so I’d want to try several, and do some research there.

Codecs, bit rate and depth also matter.

I'd send a couple more diagnostics showing the issue, then push for a support escalation to get the internal Bluetooth logs and status examined.

Assuming I have found your device…The device in the link requires an optical/coxial input. Does your Turntable and/or 3rd party pre-amp have the compatible output? The analog RCA’s are for output to another device.
