bass reproduction when playing vinyl

I recently set up a Yamaha record player to play through a port and paired Era 100s.

when streaming from Spotify the bass reproduction is reasonable however when I play any records there is a complete lack of bass.
other than attaching a sub is there something I am missing?

Also, make sure you are using a pre-amp and it is set to Line. RIAA equalization deemphasizes the bass and emphasizes the treble. The phono pre-amp reverses this.

Likely the cartridge is incorrectly wired.
