Hello fellow Sonos friends:

Does the original Sonos Arc work well as a room speaker? I’m thinking about a new TV setup (probably with either a new Sonos Arc Ultra, or a Sony Bravia Theater Quad) and thinking about potential other uses for my original Sonos Arc.

I have an Ikea Kallax shelf in a different room, and 20” of clearance from the top of the shelf to a ceiling overhang. Would the Arc work well in this position? I’d be using it just for music.

Do I understand correctly that the upfiring speakers are not active with music playback? Or is this enabled/disabled via Spatial Music setting in the Sonos app?

My original Arc may be heading for the Kitchen to replace a One SL. It will be up on top of the cabinets, making it weird the ceiling slopes right to left so the upfiring speakers will be challenged.

The other option is to sell it as it is too big for any of the other rooms we have Beams in. BTW a Beam (displaced by the Arc) makes a fine bathroom speaker sitting on top of the cabinet there, gives me great expectations for the relocated Arc.

If you play Atmos music you should see sound from the upfiring speakers,

It might work OK for background music, but in my surround system the Arc is the weak link.
