Recently, my Sonos one SL has not been able to play music from my phone using AirPlay. AirPlay shows up as an option to stream music, but it crashes after six or seven seconds of attempting to play. I can play music through the Sonos app, and it seems to access my Apple Music with no trouble. The only strange issue there is that some of the playlists, which come from Apple rather than have been created by me, don’t show up.

Other AirPlay devices on the network work fine.

I have re-set up the speaker through the Sonos app, and I’ve power cycled it.

any thoughts as to what to do next?

That’s odd. You’ve done most of the things I’d try already, although I’d be tempted to try a reboot of the iPhone, the speaker and the router all at the same time. But there’s no guaranty there, I don’t really understand what is going on either. I think what I’d try is the process of submitting a system diagnostic within 10 minutes of experiencing this problem, and call Sonos Support to discuss it. But don’t post the resulting diagnostic number here, they get sensitive about GDPR. The challenge will be that the process you’re using is ‘outside’ the Sonos software, and I don’t know how much data is included in the data sent in.

There may be information included in the diagnostic that will help Sonos pinpoint the issue and help you find a solution.

When you speak directly to the Support staff, they have tools at their disposal that will allow them to give you advice specific to your network and Sonos system.

Good luck!

Thanks Bruce, I’ll give that a try!

Ok, issue resolved.  I’m embarrassed to say that while I rebooted the speaker, I didn’t reboot my phone.

Rebooting the phone did the trick.  The tech support guy was very nice about it.

It’s not a ‘fix all’ in my mind, but it’s worked for me when I had issues several years ago. I’m happy it worked in your situation! Now, if I could only understand what the issue actually is ;)
