I would like to add an older speaker to my S1 app. The option to add a device is not allowed without an app update. If I update, will my old speakers be supported?

As long as you are not migrating to S2, updating the S1 app shouldn’t cause any issues with your current speakers.

What version of the S1 app are you currently using? What model Sonos speaker are you wanting to add?

The model is usually listed on a sticker on the bottom of the speaker. Barring that, even a picture might help, although there’s a minor amount of form factor reuse.
