Hi,

I have a 4 pieces play 5 gen 1 ( with 2 in stereo, line in on left play 5) livingroom, kitchen 1x play 5, garden 1x play 5.

1 x play 3 bathroom, 1x play 3 workingroom.

The sound from Turntable on the stereo 5’s in livingroom is ok , but I on All the other devices sound is poor, no sounddepth .

would a Sonos Connect( or AMP even with no external speakers attached)  as line in for Turntable be a improvement on sound quality on my devices in the other rooms?

You could try adjusting the delay settings (I think you have that on S1?)

Hi Nik ,

delay is ok , just bad sound .

I was just wondering if analog signal from turntable would be better kept and send by connect our amp .

No it’s still a line-in connection, it will not make any difference - just odd that the TT plays fine on the old Play:5 but not on the other speakers - what size buffer (Audio Delay’) are you using and what is the “Source Level" setting?

Also what are the ‘audio compression’ settings set to for the line-in audio - that’s in the main settings area of the App, rather than stored in the ‘room settings’ of the Play:5?

Hi Ken,

source level is at 7 this moment ( Played a bit with source level ) .

audio delay was Low( 75 ms) , did change to max(2000 ms) .

did at test ,mmm a bit better, perhaps it takes Some time de adjust?

thanks for the tips

Source level 7 is quite high. A line level in can be lower - with my CD player the line in on my Connect is set to 2. Do you use a preamp or is the turntable preamped?

Yes , pre amp in between.
Turntable is pro-ject Carbon debut with ortofon stylus 40.

Note that the paired PLAY:5’s are in stereo. The other rooms will not have the same image.

You could be wright BuZz , perhaps I’m to sceptical
