Am I right in understanding it that the Trade Up Policy has changed so that you can keep using your ‘unsupported’ speakers for as long as you want post ‘trading up’?

Yes, you are. It does not apply to previously traded up devices, however. They can not be ‘re-activated’.

Where is the SONOS document that supports your statement?

https://www.sonos.com/en-us/legal/tradeup-terms

It does not specifically say “you get to keep your existing speakers”, but it does not specify that you must recycle as the previous terms said.    Having done the tradeup program recently, I can confirm my Connect:Amp still functions as normal.
