What more can I check to determine why my subwoofer makes a rattling sound with medium to strong bass notes in music or movies? It is not something else rattling on a shelf, etc.

I’d call Sonos support when you can play the Sub for them to listen to. Contact page has numbers and hours for many countries, VERIFY your country to avoid a horrible phone bill.
Look for the tiny (last time I looked) flag and switch it to match your flag if it doesn’t already.
