I have found someone selling two Play 5's (generation 1) for 400 total. How would that compare with my two Ones that I have in my living room currently? Is it worth the money to change them out and move my Ones to other rooms, or is the sound quality better out of the Ones since they are newer?

Any suggestions welcome.

I just bought 2 new 1s and have a 5 a few years old. I love the 5. Deep, rich, and loud. Id buy two for 400.

Even though they are Gen 1 and not Gen 2? I've never heard the Gen 1 so it would be a shot in the dark.

Gen 1s sound very good. They sound better than a Play:1. My only concern would be the age. I would probably value them personally at about $150 each. I would buy them at that price level. $400 I would probably pass.

They have input (which your play:1 doesn't) and have on the Gen1 the headphone jack!

What's the benefit of them having the input?

Cons are with respect to how much working life is left for them, and their looks. I prefer the more modern looking 1 units. Against that are the pros listed above.
