Hi has the play 5 2gen got microphones built in for voice commands (which havent been switched on yet) cheers all

Not the far-field microphone arrays that are required for voice control.

Interestingly when launched it was suggested as some sort of future proofing enabling some functionality later on. I suspect they will end up doing nothing much.

I don't think they are the far field microphones needed for voice control. I think they are and will remain redundant, although I cannot be sure.

Ok, so what were they designed for in the first place then?

Not sure what they had in mind when they put them in but, going by lots of reports from Sonos One owners, they may be inadvertently fitting them to their devices... :8

Trueplay. But it was found room analysis requires a moving microphone.
