Play:5 Gen1 and Connect - Do I Need A Boost/Bridge?

I have had a Play5 Gen1 and a Connect for years and my Bridge just broke (crushed.) Do I need to buy a Boost or can I just hardwire the Play5 Gen1 to my router and let the Connect work through wifi?

You can wire the PLAY:5. Any unit can act as a 'bridge' between wired and SonosNet wireless.

If it's inconvenient to keep the P:5 wired, why not try running the system on WiFi (aka 'Standard Setup') instead of SonosNet? Whilst the P:5 is still wired, go to Advanced Settings/Wireless Setup and enter your router's WiFi details. Detach the Ethernet cable and give everything a couple of minutes to settle down.
