Yes. My Play:5s 1st. gen. (discontinued 3 years ago) are still supported with firmware updates.
My ZonePlayer 80 discontinued something like 10 years ago is still supported.
Getting a replacement Play 3 for a failed one may be a bit iffy once their refurbished stock is gone.
