No backlighting on play/pause and volume buttons

I purchased a Sonos Beam and two One SLs last week. I noticed that the backlight is not illuminated on the volume up/down and play/pause buttons. I have verified on the Hardware>Touch Controls setting is enabled on all 3 speakers in the Sonos app (iphone). I have also checked that all speakers are up to date with the latest software and rebooted each speaker.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

There’s never been backlighting on Sonos buttons, to my knowledge, just separate LEDs to indicate various states.

And the command that controls those LEDs is Settings > System > (Room Name) > Status Light, which is at the bottom of that screen, just above Touch Controls.

I guess the pictures on the main Sonos web page led me to believe that are lit.
