Is there actually a manual or user guide?

I started the setup aded the E100SL speaker. Connected to wifi, then It says - when flashing green and white … press the button.

Its flashing green and yellow.  But what button?

I found something on the kit but nothing happened.

is it a button on the app?

Have just bought two speakers, beautifully packaged...but so far it's form over function. Going to have to return.

Thanks @nik9669a

I'm not stereo pairing them, I had two wired stereo speakers in each room before, Kefs and Goodmans - now decided my ears are past their sell by date, so the mono output is perfectly fine for me.  Sonos output is certainly better than mono output used to be back in the day.

Did you check the specs of the Era before buying it?  A single Era 100 is a stereo speaker, not mono. (But you can stereo-pair them so one becomes left channel and the other is the right hand channel.)

That said, you seem happy now with the setup of your system, your access to your music library, your ability to pair to a Bluetooth source, and your ability to group speakers. I hope you can now enjoy your system.

Bluetooth isn’t on, unless you turn it on physically on the device. And you must hold down the Bluetooth button to get it into paring mode. So, unless your nextdoor neighbor is in your home pressing the button, they can’t pair with it.

Pair Sonos Era 100 with Bluetooth

After the first paring when BT is active on the speaker your device will connect automatically if in range. You can prevent this in one of three (3) ways:

  • Turn BT off on the speaker

How do I do that? I’m not bothered if my phone or tablet connect - I've always got bluetooth switched off on them.  But I'd like to switch it off on the speaker, so that  anyone next door, say, couldn’t try to pair with it.

ie all comms should be through the network.

I didn’t even touch the second speaker when I set it up.

ps, tried to partial quote by highlighting a bit of your post but it wouldn’t work. Had to quote the lot and delete. Firefox on Android tablet

Maybe you’re a person who doesn’t like the LED status light active located on the front of the speaker as some say it’s disturbing. Be that as it may you won’t know if Bluetooth (BT) is active on the Era 100.

In order to get the LED status light to be on at all times:

  1. Open the app
  2. Go to Settings
  3. Select the room with the Era 100
  4. Scroll down to Hardware
  5. Status Lights
  6. Slide the button to the right

The normal state of the LED status light for all Sonos is White.  I suggest having the LED status light activated for all Sonos speakers and components.

  1. To Activate BT on the Era 100 press the BT button on the rear and the LED status light will Blink Blue and turn Solid Blue when paired to your device and remain so.
  2. To De-activate BT on the Era 100 press the BT button on the rear and the LED status light will return to white.

Note:

  1. BT on a Sonos speaker is off by default.
  2. If BT activates during setup it’s most likely due to the user pressing the BT button inadvertently by mistake. 😊
  3. The BT Activation/De-activation process is the same for all BT enabled Sonos speakers.
  4. There is also an audible tone played during BT activation/de-activation
  5. BT only needs to be activated on one speakers of a stereo pair and vise versa to de-activate.

Thank you.  I thought the status light was just the power indicator.  It was off by default when I unpacked.

You’re still fighting against reading any user guides for yourself?   https://www.sonos.com/en-us/guides/era100sl

And its bloody downloadable!  Would have done, as I'm notorious for RTFM.

But the flimsy 20 word leaflet in the box tells you to download the app and to take it from there.  There’s a help in the app but it doesn’t lead to this document. Instead it leads to…..here - the community! 😂

The first pages Ive glanced at were exactly what I was looking for.

Cheers, & thanks.

There’s a wealth of information on the Sonos website, if you look.
