How to tell sub gen

Accoring to my system overview the Sub is gen2. But the production date on the serial number is 1503. So how to tell if it is gen1 or gen2? Also the ring around the middle is more silver and also the Sonos letters are more silver. When I look at gen2 these are more black.

Hi @Polleke

Welcome to the Sonos Community!

Your Sub is Gen 1. I’m not sure why it would be reported as Gen 2 in the app.

I hope this helps.

I believe Sonos consider the gen1 and gen2 Subs as the same, bar cosmetic differences.

I have a 2013 Sub that shows as gen2 under my system overview.

In Sonos’ own words when the gen2 was released:

  • We've made some minor changes to SUB. The cosmetic changes include blacked-out trim and a smaller logo. SUB’s sound and hardware components remain the same.

I have yet to see or hear of a Gen 1 Sub being reported as a Gen 1 Sub. They are all reported as Gen 2.

This is under the System overview under the Sonos account online, rather than within the app.
