Hi jarancibia001, there are only two units that have received a generational upgrade: the Sonos One and the Play:5.
With the Play:5 Gen 2, it was a full refresh, every single part carefully redesigned and developed. It had new functionality and audio improvements and could have been named something else entirely considering how different it was. You can't pair a first generation Play:5 with a second generation.
The Sonos One Gen 2 is not the same type of upgrade. The second generation has new computing components, improvements to the processor and memory, along with a few other changes. However, there are no physical changes to the outside beyond the Gen 2 on the label. And the audio hasn't changed, so you can pair a first generation and second generation together and not notice a difference.
