I'm about to upgrade my Play 5s (gen1) to the new FIVEs. Will the FIVEs still pair with my gen 1 Sub? Moving all, hardware to S2 environment and note Sub is still supported by S2. Hoping I can keep existing Sub. Any advice?

Yes, your Sub Gen1 is S2 compatable and will play nicely with the Fives – see:
