I bought a home where previous owner had sonus system.  He took everything but ceiling speakers that aren’t sonus.  He said they connected to sonus but the app can’t see them.  How do i connect?

He possibly had a Sonos amp wired to those speakers. Did he leave a Sonos Amp for you or are you able to follow the wires from where the speakers are located or able to access them?

If the device is powered up and connected to Ethernet, run my iOS app, it will find any device in any state and tell you all about it. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/phonos-plus/id1511326524

@Sk17

Non-Sonos speakers do not show in the app. You will need to connect them to a Sonos Amp in order to use them. Even after they are connected to a Sonos Amp and named as a room/zone only the Amp will show in the app. After they are connected you can use them independently or Group them with other Sonos in your home.

Note: Do not Group them with TV audio from a Sonos soundbar as there will be a 75ms delay. There is no delay Grouping to a Sonos soundbar when playing music.

Thank you, found out these speakers were actually hard wired to an amp,   Not wireless after all.

FYI, Sonos doesn’t sell in-ceiling that are wireless in case you were wondering 🤔. There may be wireless in-ceiling speakers made by a 3rd party manufacturer but none to my knowledge that are compatible with Sonos. You could most likely use the in-ceiling speakers left behind by wiring them to a Sonos Amp.
