We found ants in our living room near the Sonos. When we looked closer they were coming out of the mesh front, sides and bottom. It's past the warranty so took it apart and found this. Not fun. Sprayed without spraying important parts and cleaned thoroughly. Still works. Now in the freezer for an overnight. Why does this happen so often? Ugh. We had our sitting on the floor - not a good idea.

That's a shame, sorry to hear about the infestation! I've seen this come up from time to time, it's because the speaker is warm and dry, along with dark and already has holes in it. It makes for an ideal home for ants. You'll see this sort of issue come up from time to time with a lot of similar electronics. The best thing to do is to have it away from entrances for ants, and if you want to experiment, there are things you can see suggested for ways to prevent them from coming near your speaker.
